March, 2022

Since March is Women’s History Month we thought it would be a good time to check the status of equal rights for women in the United States. The Equal Rights Amendment, the first version of which was introduced in 1923, has still not been ratified by the required number of states.
We’re spotlighting women in history this month that you may or may not have heard of before. Women are making herstory every day and have an outsize impact on the next generation, particularly in the early years. We sat down with Program Specialist, Emily Grunt, and asked her about the women in her life who have helped shape her values and direction.

UPCOMING TRAININGS
Coming up on April 21st we have a SEEDS Refresher for anyone with an expiring certificate. May and June we’re offering 3-5 Year-Old Train-the-Trainer sessions in traditional and accelerated forms. Watch your email and see our website for more information.

CONGRATULATIONS!
We’re delighted to congratulate one of our partners, The Oakland Reach, on their unexpected $3 million-dollar gift from McKenzie Scott. This gift will allow for the expansion of literary programs currently in place that include SEEDS trainings and coaching.
READING MONTH
March is also Reading Month, but of course, we believe every month is reading month. We have many ideas for children’s books on our social media channels and encourage you to patronize your local library for more. Our libraries are often unsung heroes of equal opportunity in education and losing them would be an immense loss.
