SEEDS of Learning™ for 3-5 Year-Olds Train-the-Trainer

This is an intensive virtual examination of SEEDS of Learning™ for 3 to 5-Year-Olds. Over the course of the series, participants will obtain the necessary skills and tools to train other adults either virtually or in person, and to facilitate SEEDS of Learning™ sessions for their site-based teachers or tutors.

Prerequisite: One year direct experience with SEEDS of Learning™ for 3-5 Year Olds, or completed SEEDS of Learning™ asynchronous eLearning modules.

Overview:
True to the SEEDS gradual release model (and unlike many virtual training series available), participants increasingly lead facilitation of the content, receiving feedback from SEEDS master trainers and peers to support skill development and content understanding.

Upon completing training, participants will take a knowledge-based assessment to ensure the effective implementation of SEEDS of Learning™ in their organization. Each trainer will have the skills and tools to train program teachers, tutors, and coaches either virtually or face-to-face.

This certification is active for 2 years and includes access to all training materials.

Learning Outcomes:

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Promote trainer competencies and skills in relationship-based training interactions
  • Identify the five essential components of early literacy
  • See models of Literacy Rich Routines that are tested and found to have a significant impact on child learning
  • Describe how to provide explicit instruction through relationship-based interactions for: Colors, Shapes, Letters, Numbers; Phonological Memory and Awareness; Name Writing
  • Describe how to scaffold early learning using continua for learning: Vocabulary and Oral Language; Visual Discrimination; Phonological Awareness; Print and Written Expression
  • Understand the importance of reading and repeated reading and know how to implement a quality Repeated Read Aloud
  • Become familiar with strategies that help teachers to differentiate instruction through fun and meaningful ways throughout the day
  • Explore using a Response to Intervention (RTI) model to meet the needs of individual children
  • Have fun learning about Language and Literacy with other Early Childhood Leaders
